What is the difference between registering time and hours?
Here you can read about why there are two different options to choose from when registering working hours in the system.
When registering your working hours, there are two different options; TIME and HOURS. The two options work slightly differently, so you can choose the option that best suits your needs.

Register working hours using TIME
When you select TIME, you choose to register the working time between two timestamps. You select when you started working and when you finished. If you have worked overtime, you can also register it between two timestamps. You can never register more than 24 hours in a row when using TIME.
If you use the calendar to register, the date will be pre-filled with the date you clicked on, and if you use the timesheet, it will be pre-filled with today's date. The time will be pre-filled based on the settings the administrator has set up. The administrator can choose between "7-15", "8-16" or "None" under Working time in the settings. If "None" is selected, the pre-filled start time will be 8 hours back in time and the end time will be the time of the recording.
The break is always pre-filled to 3.5 hours after the start time, but can of course be changed. You can also remove the break completely or add more breaks. Administrator can choose whether breaks should be considered paid or not under company settings.
We recommend using this method of registering time to ensure that all requirements for documentation of working hours and breaks are met.
Register working hours using HOURS
When you select HOURS to register your working hours, you do not select a time. You only select how many hours you have worked, and you can also register working hours for multiple days at the same time. You enter the number of hours per day and the dates between which these hours should be registered. All days between these two dates will then have the number of hours you selected registered on them. This can be used, for example, if you are registering an entire week's working hours at once.
Please note that if you choose to record hours for multiple weeks at once, hours will be recorded on all days between the two dates. This means that hours will also be recorded on weekends.
All days will have the same number of registered hours and the same break time, but you can also choose to register overtime on certain dates. If a day should have a different number of hours, you can always go in and edit the relevant day afterwards.
This way of registering time can be sufficient documentation if the workplace has fixed working hours and the break is always placed at a fixed time. You can read more about the requirements for recording working hours here: Registering work time - Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority
